Our History

1973
Baton Rouge, Louisiana native Steve Jackson enrolls at LSU in Architecture.
1974
Colfax, Louisiana native Tommie Cockfield enrolls at LSU in Architecture.
1974

meet in architecture School.
1978
Jackson graduates and accepts his first job in Baton Rouge.  
1979
Cockfield graduates and accepts his first job in Baton Rouge.

Jackson serves as Project Architect for the Jones Creek Road Regional Branch Library project while working with Post Architects.  As a result of this project experience and relationship, Cockfield Jackson would eventually earn many commissions for library projects as a specialty of the firm.

The World Wide Web debuts and changes technology, education, and communication forever.

Cockfield Jackson Architects ​is awarded the Greenwell Springs Road Regional Branch Library commission and begins their career of library designs.

Architects celebrates completion of 100 residential projects.

Cockfield Jackson Architects ​is awarded both the American Institute of Architects Louisiana Honor Award and the American Institute of Architects Baton Rouge Rose Award for St. Aloysius Catholic Church Worship Space Building.
1997
Cockfield Jackson Architects ​is awarded the American Institute of Architects Baton Rouge Rose Award for Greenwell Springs Road Regional Branch Library.

Cockfield Jackson Architects ​served as Design Consultant with a local firm in Livingston Parish for the Denham Springs-Walker, Watson, Albany-Springfield and South Branch library projects.

Cockfield Jackson
Architects celebrates completion of 300 residential projects.

Cockfield Jackson Architects ​selected as part of a joint venture team, The Library Design Collaborative, which included Cockfield Jackson Architects, Tipton Associates,
and PSA/Dewberry. They collaborated to design the new 126,000 sq. ft. Goodwood Main Library. Design and phased construction of this important civic project for East Baton Rouge Parish took 7 years to complete.

Cockfield Jackson Architects completed renovations for St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Brusly, Louisiana.

Cockfield Jackson Architects ​is awarded the American Institute of Architects Louisiana Honor Award, the American Institute of Architects Baton Rouge Gold Medal Rose Award, and the Faith & Form Merit Award for the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Renovation/Addition.
2012
Cockfield Jackson Architects ​is awarded the 
IIDA recognition award in the Renovation/Historic Preservation category and the  Alliant Build America Award (America’s best renovation project under $10 million) for St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Renovation/Addition.

Cockfield Jackson Architects ​celebrates the completion of 400 residential projects.

Cockfield Jackson Architects is awarded Library Journal's New Landmark Library Winner for the East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library.

Cockfield Jackson Architects is awarded the American Institute of Architects Baton Rouge Rose Award for a private residence in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

​Cockfield Jackson Architects was selected to do a major renovation of The Park on Bluebonnet, now known as Blu on the Boulevard, a local apartment complex consisting of 350 units and a clubhouse.

​Cockfield Jackson Architects completed a major renovation of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in New Orleans, LA.  A new entrance was added to the existing building and the vestibule was renovated and expanded.

Cockfield Jackson Architects celebrates completion of 600 residential projects.
2020
Cockfield Jackson Architects was selected to design the Baker Library renovation and additions. The original design was done by Cockfield Jackson in 2001.
2020
Cockfield Jackson Architects began working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cockfield Jackson Architects emerges from the COVID-19 lockdown and returns to working at the office.

Cockfield Jackson Architects celebrates 28 years of design excellence.

Cockfield Jackson Architects completed the Blu on the Boulevard (formerly The Park on Bluebonnet) renovation and transformation.  The project involved all new roofing, replacement of all exterior skin materials, interior unit renovations, campus landscaping and drainage. The clubhouse work involved a complete interior renovation of finishes, removal of walls to create more openness and specification of FF&E.

2023
Cockfield Jackson Architects completed a major renovation and makeover of The Square at St. James Place. This was the original common area amenities building on the St. James Place campus, constructed in 1983.

Cockfield Jackson Architects is commissioned to design the second branch of the Bank of St. Francisville, located in Baton Rouge.
