Master PlanThe master plan for the existing St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church campus in Prairieville, Louisiana developed a long range plan for a seventeen classroom education building, renovation and major expansion of the existing church, renovation of the administration building, additional parking, site work and infrastructure modifications, and a future pre-K through 12th grade school.
Extensive pre-planning programming meetings were held with the various stakeholders of the campus to gain a detailed understanding of needs and functionality. A phased cost estimate was also performed for the overall project implementation. |
Renovations and AdditionsAs a follow-up to the master plan developed by Cockfield Jackson Architects, the existing church was expanded on all four sides of the main sanctuary space to include a new gathering foyer and entry area with a baptismal font, sacristy area, cry room, restrooms and support spaces, new transepts with additional seating, expanded nave areas, and a new covered drop-off.
The original church was designed by the late John J. Desmond, FAIA-E, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The additions and renovations were carefully implemented to compliment and respect the dignity and beauty of the original design vocabulary. |
Religious Education CenterAs a follow-up to the master plan developed by Cockfield Jackson Architects, this religious education building was designed according to State of Louisiana standards for future conversion to an elementary classroom building.
The facility includes a central commons area, administrative areas, a conference room / library, sixteen classrooms, a large meeting room, rest rooms, and support spaces. |
