Baton Rouge Garden Center
The Baton Rouge Garden Center is located within the Baton Rouge Recreation and Park Commission’s (BREC) Independence Park Botanical Gardens, and is owned and managed by the Baton Rouge Garden Club. In 2016, BREC hired Cockfield Jackson Architects to develop a conceptual design solution to create a multi-functional facility that would incorporate a greenhouse /conservatory with the Garden Center. The Garden Center has been renovated in anticipation of this future use and fundraising efforts for the conservatory are underway.
A new common entry lobby feature will incorporate restrooms for the entire facility, with access to both the Garden Center and the BREC Conservatory which can be used together or independently.
When completed, the facility will host plant shows and house permanent plant displays, along with providing space for other venues such as weddings, receptions, parties, family gatherings, etc.
