Livingston Parish Libraries

Louisiana Architects Cockfield Jackson designed and built four branch libraries for the Livingston Parish Library System. Denham Springs – Walker Branch (18,400 SF), Albany – Springfield Branch (12,700 SF), Watson – Live Oak Branch (15,700 SF) and South Branch (9,200 SF). The Library Board desired a prototypical architectural vocabulary and interior space organization with unique color schemes, furniture, and finishes for each of the four new libraries.  Each facility is based on a central “great hall” circulation space and reading room. A crossing axis passes through the “great hall” with adult services on one end and youth services on the other end. The concept was carried through at each branch for continuity and to promote the unified image of the library system.  These projects were a joint venture with Labarre Associates, of Denham Springs, Louisiana.
